Canada E2 Readiness

Annual exercises. Plan content updates. Notification protocols. Federal coordination. Every year. Northline makes E2 compliance routine instead of a scramble.

E2 Is Not New. The Expectations Changed.

The Environmental Emergency Regulations (SOR/2019-51) under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act have been in force since 2003. The 2019 amendments expanded the prescribed substances list, tightened plan content requirements, and clarified the annual exercise expectation.

Who Is Covered

Any facility in Canada holding, processing, or using a prescribed substance on Schedule 1 above threshold quantities. Common industries: ammonia refrigeration, chemical manufacturing, fuel and propane terminals, oil and gas, water and wastewater (chlorine), food processing, pharmaceuticals, mining.

What E2 Requires

Environmental Emergency Plan addressing prescribed substance hazards. Annual exercise of the plan (tabletop, functional, full-scale, or drill). Coordination with local responders. Notification to ECCC upon plan preparation and within prescribed timeframes during incidents.

How Northline Closes the Gap

Northline is led by Canadian operators with fire, emergency management, and hazmat backgrounds. Every E2 engagement produces documentation ECCC will accept. The annual cadence becomes routine, not a scramble.
