Canada E2 Annual Exercise
The Environmental Emergency Regulations require facilities with prescribed substances to exercise their E2 plan at least once per year. Tabletop, functional, full-scale, or a drill cycle all satisfy depending on what is being validated.
Annual. Recurring. Documented.
Facilities under SOR/2019-51 are required to exercise the Environmental Emergency Plan at minimum once per calendar year. Each exercise must be documented: scenario design, participants, findings, and corrective actions. ECCC inspectors expect records on file.
Which Exercise Type
Tabletop: instructor-led ICS simulation, half-day to full-day, the most common annual choice. Functional: EOC activates, sections operate, no field deployment. Full-Scale: boots on the ground, mutual aid, 3D replayable AAR. Drills: single-function notification, evacuation, decon, shelter-in-place, mutual aid notification.
Why Northline
Annual E2 work tends to become a treadmill. Northline plans the multi-year exercise sequence, runs each year exercise to ECCC-defensible standard, and keeps your plan, HIRA, and findings linked inside the readiness portal.
